• The management of University of Abuja, following the announcement that there will be no post-UTME screening for 2015/2016 admission, has explained why it cancelled the exercise.

The management, through the spokesperson of the university, Waziri Garba, stated that there was no post UMTE because after the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board redistribution exercise, the institution was left with a small figure

Garba said; “initially we had about 16,000 candidates applying then after JAMB did their redistribution exercise we came down to about 6,000 and we need about 4,000 students only. So why do we conduct post UMTE, it will cost us more to conduct it for 6,000 people than 16,000 people.”

He said the institution decided to do the admission on merit basis at the departmental level to admit their students.

According to him, the exercise is currently ongoing at the departmental level and will later go to central admission unit of the varsity who will compile everything before it is finally sent to JAMB.
