• Graduates from the Medical Rehabilitation Department, University of Nigeria Nsukka, last Wednesday, staged a protest against the delay in issuing them licences due to the administrative stand-off between the school management and the Medical Rehabilitation Technical Board of Nigeria (MRTBN).

The students who graduated since last year, marched round the Faculty Building, carrying placards with inscriptions that reads: “Our Internship have been denied because we do not have license, UNN and MRTBN, please set us free, We are trapped, stagnated and helpless, After collecting our N5M, no license, no induction, no job.”

The protesting students alleged that they paid N50,000 each for the license but to avail.

The students who spoke through their leader Mr. Ifeanyi Uwaegbuonu said,”We were told to pay N50,000 each for our induction which we did. Since last year till now, we have not received any information concerning our license which has hamstrung our induction.

“We have laid our grievance to various relevant authorities but to no avail”, he said.

Uwaegbuonu added: “It was during our efforts that we found out that the problem between MRTBN and the school is that the Board said a Physiotherapist should be the Head of Department instead of a Medical Doctor that we have now as HOD.”
