• The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Professor Benjamin Ozumba, has said that the welfare of students is his priority.

Ozumba who made this known on Saturday during the university’s 41st matriculation ceremony, said that he had put adequate measures in the department of students’ affairs to ensure good welfare.

“The department of students’ affairs is a veritable medium through which students’ activities and welfare are appropriately handled.

“My administration will ensure a conducive environment to guarantee quality teaching and learning,” he said.

Ozumba warned the students to stay away from cultism, examination malpractice and other deviant behaviours since the laws of the university were no respecter of persons.

The VC congratulated the students, urging them to count themselves lucky for gaining admission out of the numerous candidates that sat for the entrance examination.

“I congratulate you for being successful in the last Post-UTME examinations and urge you to study hard to justify your admission as well as the financial investment by your parents and guardians,” he said. (NAN)
