• The 44th convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria Nsukka which took place on Saturday, 24th January, 2015 saw some eminent Nigerians conferred with honourary degrees.

    The Vice-Chancellor of UNN, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, said during the event that the three Nigerians conferred with honourary degrees were those who distinguished themselves in their fields of endeavours.

    One of them is the Senator representing Enugu West and current Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who was conferred with Honourary Doctorate in Law.

    Another is Mrs Valeria Azenga, Secretary of the just-concluded National Conference who was also conferred with Doctor of Law, while Mr Musa Babayo received Doctorate degree in Public Administration.

    Others honoured at the event are Prof. Pius N. Okeke and Prof. Paul Akubue who were conferred with Professor Emeritus for their outstanding contributions to UNN.

    According to the VC, the professors have not only brought honours to the university but have extended their contributions in knowledge to the other parts of the world.

    Responding on behalf of other awardees, Ekweremadu commended the University for finding them worthy for the awards.

    He pledged that they would assist the university in their various capacities to improve infrastructure and academics in the university.
