UNN Graduates 85 First Class Students.
No fewer than 13,554 graduating students will receive various degree certificates during the 45th Convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, which is scheduled to hold on Friday 19th February, 2016.
Speaking at the pre-convocation media briefing on Monday, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, said that 85 of the graduating students bagged First Class degrees.
In a further breakdown of the results, the VC stated that a total of 3,040 students graduated with Second Class Upper division while 7,286 graduands bagged Second Class Lower. A further 2,237 got Third Class and 257 will receive Pass certificates.
Prof. Ozumba added that about 176 students graduated from the Diploma programme with another four students getting the Associateship Certificate in Education.
Speaking further, Ozumba said that five distinguished Nigerians will receive the Honourary Doctorate Degrees of the University.
They include the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe; a former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Commassie; Ambassador Godwin Alaoma Onyegbula and Prince Arthur Eze, who would be conferred with the Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration (Honoris Causa). Then Hon. Justice Eze Ozobu will receive Doctor of Philosophy in Law (Honoris Causa).
Also, the VC said that 19 Professors will be elevated to the title of Professor Emeritus during the convocation.
