• No fewer than 7,691 students were admitted by the University of Uyo for the 2014/2015 academic session during the matriculation ceremony of the institution.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Comfort Ekpo, warned the newly admitted students to shun vices, such as cultism and prostitution, that could frustrate their academic development.

She urged them to endeavour to abide by the institution’s rules and regulations.

Noting that the university has implemented the Tertiary Institution Social Insurance Programme, the VC urged them to key into the scheme in order to obtain free medical services.

Ekpo added, “It is important that you register with the University Medical Centre so that you can benefit from the scheme.”

The VC, who said academic work required peace and order, advised them to stay away from anything that could result in them to crisis.
