• A total of 4,186 students will receive various degree certificates at the 21st convocation ceremony of the University of Uyo scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 31, 2015.

    Speaking at the convocation press briefing, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs) Comfort Ekpo, said eleven graguating students bagged First Class degrees.

    A further breakdown of the results shows that 564 students got Second Class Upper Division while 1,572 made Second Class Lower
    Division. 903 others got Third Class and Pass respectively.

    She said a total of 309 students graduated in Diploma and Certificate programmes while 347 will receive Postgraduate Diploma with 899 Masters Degree and 82 Ph.Ds.

    The VC further stated that for the first time in the history of the University, a female emerged as the overall best graduating student in the person of Miss Nsidibe Solomon Etuk of the Department of Music, with a Cumulative Grade point Average of 4.65.

    Prof. Ekpo also said that the overall best graduating student in Medicine and Pharmacy are females. They are: (a) Dr. Imaobong Ubom (Medicine) and Pharmacist Grace Monday Williams (Pharmacy).

    The University of Uyo will invest Honorary Degreeson three eminent Nigerians, namely Senator Ita Solomon, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija and Chief Uko Akpan Umanah.
