• The Director of Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre (TEC), University of Ilorin, Dr. U. Gunu, has urged Nigerian students to consider the establishment of their own micro-enterprises so as to become self-employed and build their future careers outside their paper qualifications.

Dr. Gunu made the call last Monday while addressing the 2014/2015 Community Based Entrepreneur Skills (COBES) students of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, who are spread across six centres in the state.

The TEC Director expressed his belief that the COBES experience would have empowered some of the students to adapt to rural life because rural life is different from urban life.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Y. A. Abayomi, advised the students to observe well and contribute better to the communities, adding that they should bring out issues and make positive impacts in their various communities.

Prof. Abayomi also advised them to make the University proud by behaving well and shunning all negative acts that will give the University bad image.

Also, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. O. A. Omotesho, who confirmed that the students were in good standing, urged them to add value to whatever they come across in their communities, adding that they should see themselves as agents of growth in the field of agriculture.
