• The University of Ilorin has acquired six units of ultra-modern milking machines to improve dairy production activities in the University.

    The machines, procured from Turkey, have been distributed to the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture.

    Speaking at the presentation ceremony last week, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, urged the two Faculties to make proper use of the  state-of-the-arts milking machines.

    The VC, who was represented by the Director, Unilorin Consultancy Services Centre, Prof. Olugbenga Mokuolu, explained that the University procured the machines to improve dairy production activities on the campus and ensure hygienic production of milk.

    Prof. Ambali added that the machines would also be of great benefit to the Engineering students, noting that when the machines are eventually domesticated, they would be of great assistance to the local milk extractors.

    The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that the machines were the first of its kind in the state, adding that he was proud to make the presentation.

    Responding on behalf of the two Faculties, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Y. A. Abayomi, commended the Vice-Chancellor for his foresight and promised that they would make good use of the machines. Also present at the brief presentation ceremony was the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. S. F. Ambali.

    Each of the Faculties received three machines comprising two double-chamber and one single-chamber milking machines respectively.
