• UNILAG warns Video producers against shooting of films on Campus

    The authorities of the University of Lagos has frowned at the indiscriminate rate at which films are shot within the university.

    The institution therefore warned that all requests and approvals for shooting of films can only be granted by  Vice-Chancellor himself. The full text of the official notice below


    Authorities of the University of Lagos have noticed with reservations, the unguarded manner with which shooting of films and related cinematography activities are carried out on the campus.

    Management notes that these activities which are carried out without permission from appropriate authorities are associated with several security issues and often portray the University in negative light, particularly as the University name is conspicuously displayed in the films and media production which portray social vices.

    Henceforth, all requests and approvals for shooting of films and related cinematography activities should only be considered by the Vice-Chancellor. IT IS ILLEGAL FOR ANY APPROVAL TO BE GIVEN BY HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS/UNITS, RESIDENTS OF CAMPUS QUARTERS, TENANTS OR THEIR AGENTS ON CAMPUS.

    The Chief Security Officer has been empowered to accost anybody or organisation that violates this order and handover such individuals to law enforcement agents.

    Members of the University Community are hereby advised to report any violation of this order to the Vice-Chancellor, management staff or the Chief Security Officer or call any of the following phone numbers for immediate action: 08026715733, 07031656901, 08059831717 and 08023032906.
