• The University of Lagos, Faculty of Pharmacy held the Induction Ceremony for the 2014 graduating class on Thursday, March 5, 2015.

    The induction ceremony by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) was the climax of a series of events held to celebrate thirty (30) years of pharmaceutical excellence within the Faculty.

    The year 2014 marked 30 years of professional excellence in the Faculty which was officially recognized by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria in 1984 as an academic institution authorized to train and graduate degree holders in Pharmacy in line with the regulations of the University of Lagos.

    The Ceremony was witnessed by Principal Officers of the University led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Professor Babajide Alo, FAS, representative of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rahamon A. Bello, FAEng who was unavoidably absent; MD/CEO of Alpha Pharmacy Limited, Ikeja, Pharm. (Sir) Ike Onyechi who served as the Chairman of the occasion; PCN Registrar, Pharm. N. A. E. Mohammed, FPSN; President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Pharm. Olumide Akintayo who was represented by Pharm. Tony Oyawole,  staff, students and alumni of the Faculty led by the Dean, Professor Olukemi A. Odukoya, FPSN, parents and well-wishers of the graduating students among others.

    Abdulai, Odunayo Hiqmat topped the list of the one hundred and thirty eight graduating students who took their Pharmacist Oath at the ceremony. She earned a degree in the Distinction category along with Ijeoma, Innocent Nnamdi; Obiakor, Chinwe Vivien; Kehinde, Omoshola B., Rufai, Isilamiyat Morenikeji and Oladapo, Bisola Oluwaseun. As the Overall Best Graduating Student, Abdulai received the Dean’s Prize, PCN Prize, and Pfizer Science Prize as well as the Pill Box Pharmacy Gift.

    Delivering a keynote address at the ceremony, the Founder/CEO of Health Plus Limited, Pharm. Bukky George urged the new Pharmacists to brace up to the challenge of being true professionals committed to delivering adequate healthcare services to members of the public.

    The address titled “Pharmacy Practice: Professionalism, Entrepreneurial Skills and the new Graduate, provided an opportunity for Pharm. George, an alumnae of UNILAG, to share tips from her over twenty years wealth of experience. At the end of her address, she announced her company’s donation of one million naira (N1, 000,000:00) to the Faculty of Pharmacy.
