• The authorities of the University of Jos have reduced the reparation fee it asked returning students to pay as surcharge after a riot by the students had forced a closure of the institution.

    In announcing the resumption date of the university for academic activities for Monday, February 23, 2015, the authorities had asked all returning students to pay N12,000 each as surcharge for facilities that were damaged during the unrest.

    A statement by the Registrar, Mr. Danjuma Jilli-Dandam, said after a meeting the management of the university and officials of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), on Tuesday, the school had resolved that the surcharge be reduced from N12,000 to N6,000.

    The university also lifted  the suspension on the 16 former officials of the dissolved UniJos Students Union Government immediately and they be allowed to sit the second semester examinations.
