The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Zana Akpagu has assured students of the institution of his earnest desire to improve on students’ welfare while sustaining the developmental legacy set by his predecessor.
Prof. Akpagu made the remark recently at the 2015/2016 Freshmen Orientation organized by the management held at the Unical International Conference Centre.
The 10th Vice Chancellor on behalf of the Governing Council congratulated the freshmen for their success in JAMB and making UNICAL their choice hence their being here today to commence their academic pursuit.
He said as an Alumnus, his administration cardinal objective is to aggressively improve on students? welfare and infrastructural development as this will go a long way to aid their learning and teaching abilities.
Akpagu charged the freshmen to take their studies seriously as the administration will not condone any form of indiscipline.
He reminded them of the essence of being in a university and the effort of their parents to ensure they gain admission as this will properly position them for future challenges.
He reiterated that his administration has zero tolerance for unethical practices from students as permission will be deemed counterproductive to his lofty plans for their academic success.
The VC assured the students of a conducive working environment for academic staff which will translate into transfer of knowledge and full deliverance of curriculum content and academic discipline.
