• The current 2015 batch A corps members deployed to Taraba State for national service were all posted to serve in rural communities as classroom teachers.

According to the National Youth Service Corps State Coordinator, Freeman Tumba, the reason for such posting was to ensure that the corps members contribute meaningfully to the educational development of the state during their service year.

Of all the corps members posted to the state, 90 per cent of them were sent to villages for their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA).

Tumba, who was speaking during the closing ceremony of the 2015 Batch ‘A’ orientation course, said that the NYSC discourages posting corps members to ministries, banks and parastatals on grounds that those posted to such places are often left redundant throughout their service year.

He urged the corps members to be mindful of the culture of people in their host communities and always dress decently.

The state coordinator thanked the state government for building a standard permanent orientation camp for corps members.
