• The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Sulaiman Kazaure, has advised Corps members to embrace the option of establishing small or medium scale businesses after service instead of searching for white collar jobs.

He gave the advice while addressing the 2017 Batch ‘A’ (Stream One) Corps members at the Orientation camp at Eziama Obaire, Imo State.

Kazaure reminded them that white collar jobs were not easy to come by, adding that self-employment was the way to go.

“I don’t want you to be roaming the streets in search of jobs that are not there. Try and establish your own business no matter how small and nurture it to growth,” he said.

He told them that the NYSC was in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Bank of Industry, and Heritage Bank with a view to providing interested Corps members with loans to finance businesses.

The Director-General further enjoined them to make hard work and honesty their watchwords, and to always avoid sharp practices.

He also urged the Corps members to use the platform of the NYSC Community Development Service to help in transforming their host communities.
