• Nasarawa Govt To Partner NYSC On Agriculture.

The Nasarawa State Government is proposing a partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on agricultural development.

The Governor of the state, Abdullahi Sule, who made the proposal when the NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, led the Management team of the Scheme on a courtesy visit to him at the Government House, Lafia, commended the NYSC DG for focusing on optimization of the revenue generation platforms of the Scheme, including reinvigoration of agricultural activities at the NYSC farm settlements.

This, he said, was coming at a time when Nasarawa had just been named among the three pilot states for implementation of the National Livestock Transformation Plan.

Sule expressed confidence that, in addition to the economic benefits to the State and NYSC, the proposed partnership would give Corps members opportunity to gain experience in agriculture and even stay on to pursue economic endeavours in the State far beyond the Service year.

The Governor assured that his administration would resume the renovation of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi as well as sustain other forms of support for the Scheme.

He described the Director-General as a worthy ambassador of Nasarawa State, who was redefining NYSC, and urged him to sustain his good works.

Earlier, the Director-General Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim told the Governor that the Management team was in Lafia for the conduct of the 2020 Senior Staff Promotion Examination, which was attended by over two thousand officers.

Describing the exercise as hitch-free, he thanked the Government and people of the State for their hospitality adding that participants would have pleasant memories of their stay in the State.

Ibrahim also expressed appreciation of the State Government’s support through gestures such as Orientation Camp renovation and feeding of Corps members. He said such gestures would motivate the Corps to give their best in the service of the State and the country as a whole.
