• MOUAU Gets New Vice Chancellor.

    The Governing Council of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU) has approved the appointment of Prof. Francis Otunta as the new Vice Chancellor (VC) of the institution.

    This is contained in a statement signed by Prof. Anya Anya, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the university’s Governing Council, made available on Friday in Umuahia.

    Otunta would replace Prof. Hilary Edeoga, whose tenure would elapse in March 2016.

    The statement noted that the appointment was approved by the Governing Council following Otunta’s successful performance at an interview of shortlisted candidates for the position, which took place on Wednesday at the institution.

    According to the statement, the appointment is for a single term of five years.

    A Professor of Mathematics from the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Otunta was until his new appointment former Chairman of UNIBEN Endowment and Development Fund; Research and Publications; Head of Department, Mathematics; Vice-Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and Rector, Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Uwana, Afikpo, Ebonyi State, between 2006-2014.

    Born on 29 April, 1958, in Afikpo, Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, the new Vice-Chancellor started his teaching career as a graduate Assistant in UNIBEN on 1st August, 1983 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor on 1st October, 2003.

      Though i don’t have any problem with it, but why is the new vice chancellor chosen on appointment.
