According to a bulletin made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Obafunwa advised students to perform their civic duties, make right choices, vote wisely and stay away from violence during the elections.
“Students should evaluate, decide and their choices should not be based on stomach infrastructure. Perform your civic duties and stay away from violence.
“Do not allow anyone to use you to foment trouble as there is life after the university,” the bulletin quoted the VC as saying.

Obafunwa also called for a peaceful atmosphere devoid of industrial action in LASU, adding that strike was an impediment to a stable academic calendar.
“Dialogue is better in resolving issues than locking down the university,” he said.
