• A 300 level student of the Lagos State University (LASU), Mr Pelumi Olugbenga, has been honoured as Fellow Hesselbein Global Academy for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America.

    Mr. Pelumi who was among the only five Africans (including postgraduate students) selected to participate in the Summit on scholarship; went through a series of leadership and civic engagement learning sessions which were taught by business professionals, Senior Military Officers and Chief Executive Officers of Organizations in the United States.

    Pelumi while in the academy volunteered to work with Rise Against Hunger – a Non-Governmental Organization based in New York in the task of packaging thousands of meals that would feed over ten thousand less privileged children across the world.

    In carrying out his civic engagement assignment, he worked with four other Hesselbein Fellows from other countries at the American Red Cross, Western Pennsylvania to present ideas that would help the American Red Cross go virtual and be more effective in its operations.

    Upon the completion of all his assignments and projects, Pelumi Olugbenga was on Tuesday, 25th of July, 2017 decorated with a medal by the University of Pittsburgh in an award ceremony that was attended by the President (Vice Chancellor) of the University of Pittsburgh – Chancellor Patrick Gallagher PhD.
