• V-Cs meet with Education Ministry over post-UTME scrapping.

The Federal Ministry of Education has decided to convene a meeting with Vice-Chancellors, admission officers and other stakeholders in the tertiary education sector to discuss processes for the 2016 post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to the Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, who made this known on Wednesday in Abuja, the meeting would hold next week.

It would be recalled that the Education Minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu had said that there will be no need to conduct another test for students to gain admission into tertiary institutions as JAMB is qualified enough to conduct the tests.

“As far as I am concerned, if the nation has confidence in what JAMB is doing, the universities should not be holding another examinations.

“If the universities have any complain against JAMB, let them bring it and then we address it”, he said.

Yemi-Esan said that since the minister made the pronouncement, universities should comply with it.

However, various universities have been sending out notices via the media for the test even as some stakeholders believe that the Federal Government has scrapped exercise.
