• For years, some candidates that participates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organized by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) usually believe that the exam body uses the concept of negative marking on their scripts.

This concept they say involves deliberately marking down scripts of students seeking admission into tertiary institutions in the country.

The notion was recently clarified by the Senior Administrative Officer of JAMB, Hajia Amina Haruna, who said that  the board does not deliberately fail candidates that wrote the UTME or withhold their marks to rob them of admission.

She explained that the exam body chose the Computer Based Test (CBT) instead of the former pencil and paper mode to guarantee credible results.

Haruna maintained that the CBT has come to stay in the system, explaining that all candidates for this year’s UTME would write computer-based test.
