The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed all tertiary institutions in the country to commence the conduct of the first and second choice admission exercise for 2020/2021 academic session as from Friday, 21st August 2020.

This was disclosed by the JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, in an official document released on Sunday.

In the document containing the Board’s guidelines for 2020 admission exercise, the exam body stressed that the Admission-Exercise for the 2020/2021 Academic Session would be conducted only on the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and no Institution is allowed to publish, announce, exhibit or paste any name(s) of admitted candidate without prior approval of the name on CAPS.

According to the document, all Degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma and the Nigeria Certificate in Education into Full Time, Distance Learning, Part Time, Outreach, Sandwich, etc, must be processed only through the JAMB.

JAMB pointed out that the principal participants in exercise are; the Registrar JAMB; Chairman, Heads of Tertiary Institutions; Director of Admissions (JAMB) Admission Officers of Tertiary Institutions; JAMB Desk Officers; and Candidates.

The Board also directed Institutions interested in conducting any form of screening to do so, but said the gross charge for the screening should not exceed N2,000 only.

The exam body also stated that candidates who wrote the 2020 UTME but later obtained higher qualifications either A-levels or its equivalent, could apply to convert the UTME to the DE for free.
