• One of the major reasons for introducing Computer Based Test (CBT) for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board is to curb examination malpractice.

However, this appears not to deter some desperate candidates, as the Police arrested two persons for alleged malpractices during the test at Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke on Saturday.

Speaking on the incident, the JAMB Coordinator in Osun state, Mr. Johnson Adebiyi decried the attitude of the candidates, saying the board would continue to do everything within its limit to eradicate examination malpractice in the board’s examination.

Adebiyi maintained that the newly introduced computer based test was aimed at curbing examination malpractice and added that the board would continue to conduct examination to meet international best practice.

Confirming the incident, the Police PRO, Mrs. Folashade Odoro (DSP), said that the command had commenced investigation into the matter, submitting that the offenders would face the full wreath of the law.

Mrs Odoro said police would continue to work with the board to make the board’s examination free of malpractice.
