• The Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada, Rev. Professor Eghosa Osaghae has called on Nigerian students to see themselves as agents of change for the 21st century.

    He made the call on Friday during the 18th matriculation ceremony of the 2016/2017 admitted set of students branded the falcons 2017.

    Prof. Osaghae noted that only 18 years ago, Igbinedion University matriculated its first of students numbering only 109 students; adding that at the last count, the university had graduated over 14,000 graduates from different field of studies.

    According to him; Igbinedion university since 1999, has produced over 1,500 medical doctors, 1000 engineers, 700 pharmacists and 2000 lawyers.

    The VC recalled that in 2007 when Igbinedion University first produced its first set of medical doctors, patients in the university College Hospital, Ibadan, referred the Igbinedion University’s trained as Igbinedion with special preference to attend to the patients.

    He assured the matriculating students of their future because they had enrolled in Igbinedion University. He said from among the falcon set of students would emerge the Chief Justice of the Federation, to great scientists, accomplished medical doctors and engineers.

    Osghae charged the students to ensure they do their parents pound by distinguishing themselves in their academics.

    He warned the students to stay away from cultism and drugs as the university has a zero tolerance to illicit drug consumption and cultism.

    The Registrar, Mr. Edwin Okoro later led the fresh students that fill the 2000 capacity auditorium to the matriculation oath.
