• The management of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, has approved the expulsion of 389 students over various cases of examination malpractice and fake admissions.

According to the rector of the institution, Rev. Fr. Wence Madu, some of the expelled students gained admission into the polytechnic through illegal means while others were expelled after being found guilty of examination malpractice.

Rev. Madu said that the polytechnic admits students only on merit, reiterating that any student that enters the institution through the backdoor will eventually be caught.

The rector affirmed the institution’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice, campus cultism and other vices.

He said that the management is poised to re-position the polytechnic to enable its graduates compete in the saturated global labour market.
