• Katsina State: 750 Female Students Gets Scholarship Worth N38million

    The Kastina state government has awarded 750 female students studying various courses at Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma leading to the award of National Certificate in Education, scholarship worth N38 million.

    Presenting the scholarships, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Girl Child education, Bilkisu Kaikai said that the gesture is under the state’s teachers’ training students scholarship scheme and that each student was entitled to N50, 000, calling on them to make good use of the money.

    Kaikai said government would sustain the programme in view of its importance toward encouraging females to pursue education with an appeal to wealthy individuals to complement government effort in the educational sector.

    Earlier UNICEF’s officer, Isa Kabir Magaji said UNICEF had also assisted 250 students as part of its 20 per cent contribution to the programme.

    Magaji while commending the state government for the assistance to female students of the college, assured that UNICEF would continue to monitor their performance.

    The Director of Girl Education in the state, Sanusi Salisu said benefiting students would be employed to teach in rural schools on completion of their studies.
