• In pursuance to its mandate, the Optometrists and Dispensing Optician Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN), has visited the Federal University of Technology Owerri to conduct accreditation exercise in the Department of Optometry.

ODORBN by law is the regulatory body for Optometry and Dispensing Opticianary study in Nigeria and has the duty to ensure the quality of the educational programmes it accredits.

Consequently, a four-man Accreditation team from ODORBN visited the University on Friday, October 24th, 2014 to assess facilities at the Department of Optometry.

The team assessed the facilities, staffing, curriculum content and physical infrastructure in the Department. It expressed satisfaction with the level of facilities in the Department but however pointed out some areas that needed remedial action.
