• A total of 3,490 graduands will receive different classes of degrees and diplomas at the 24th convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna).

    Delivering the pre-convocation press briefing, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Musbau Akanji, assured that the university would continue to discourage examination malpractice among students.

    He gave a breakdown of the results of the graduating students, saying that as total of 34 graduands bagged 1st class degerees, 811 got 2nd class upper, while 1,363 would receive 2nd class lower division degrees.

    In the postgraduate category, there were 587 graduands, including 29 PhD, 453 Masters and 105 Postgraduate Diplomas.

    Akanji said that the institution would place more emphasis towards boosting its ranking, adding that funding will be of immense benefits in these.

    On provision of accommodation for students, he said that the institution was working with private entrepreneurs.

    At the Convocation were the representative of the Governor of Niger State, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Mod’d Kuta Yahaya; representative of the Minister of Education, the Director, Tertiary Education of the Federal Ministry of Education, Hajia Hindatu Abdullahi; representative of the Executive Secretary, NUC, Professor Peter Onwualu and Vice-Chancellors of sister universities, royal fathers as well as parents and guardians.
