• The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has admitted 512 graduates of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze in Anambra State into the teaching profession during the third induction ceremony of the instituion.

    The inductees include those who had successfully completed their Ph.D, Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Masters, First degree and NCE programmes.

    Speaking at the ceremony, the Provost of the College, Prof Josephat Ogbuagu, assured the inductees that teaching remains a noble profession that requires a high level of discipline and decorum.

    “I want you to count yourselves fortunate to be inducted professional teachers by the TRCN. The college in affiliation with Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has produced degree graduates as well as NCE and PGDE with the latest content that meet general and specialist pedagogical requirements for professional registration and induction of teachers,” Ogbuagu stated.

    He described the induction as a remarkable accomplishment because no profession can command public confidence except it is standardized, comprehensive, objective and measurable for the performance of its members.

    While formally admitting the students into the profession, the Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, Professor Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, expressed joy that more graduates have joined the teaching profession.

    Ajiboye said the skills imparted on the inductees would enhance their confidence in delivering quality service in schools and boost the performance of students.

    Dignitaries at the occasion includes, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha, the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Prof Joseph Ahaneku, who was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof Nkechi Esomonu and the Director, Professional Operations Department, TRCN, Abuja, who represented the TRCN Registrar, Prof Josiah Ajiboye.
