• The 20th convocation ceremony of the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, which is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 21st March, 2015 will see a total of 6,807 students receive their first degree certificates.

Speaking during the pre-convocation press briefing, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick Aina, said that 19 of the graduating students bagged first class degrees in various fields.

Prof. Aina said the convocation would cover 2012/2013 academic session due to national strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Giving an account of his four-year stewardship, the VC said he was able to raise the internally-generated revenue of the school and judiciously utilise same.

He explained that the IGR formed the bulk of the money used in equipping the Medical College.

The VC said on assumption of office, he was confronted with seamless integration of three universities into one and after doing that, backlog of convocation ceremonies and issuance of certificates were tackled.

He commended Tertairy Education Trust Fund, corporate bodies and well-wishers for assisting in re-positioning the university and putting up some structures.

Aina added that the university would soon start its Distance Learning Programme.
