• The Sokoto Education Development Trust Fund (SEDTF) said it executed projects worth more than N56 million across the state.

    Chairman of the fund and second republic president, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, disclosed this in Sokoto on Saturday at the fund’s 13th Annual General Meeting.

    “The fund as at June 30, 2015, had a total sum of N85 million in its various bank accounts,” Shagari stated.

    He said the executed projects were purchase of various sets of Islamic books which were distributed to mosques in the 23 local governments in the state and Information Communication Technology training for youths.

    Other projects, according to him, included training of women on vocational trades, skills acquisition training and disbursement of bursaries to indigent youths.

    The former president commended the Sultanate council, Sokoto State Government and other donors to the fund for their sustained moral and financial support to it.

    In his speech, the state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, promised to support the fund as it accorded priority to education.

    Tambuwal extolled the sterling contributions of the Sultan of Sokoto and fund, to the education development of the state. ( NAN)
