• Plateau To Renovate Rural Primary Schools.

The Plateau state government is set to commence the renovation of dilapidated primary school buildings in rural areas of the state.

According to the Executive Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof Mathew Sule, the renovation is a top priority for the present administration.

He said only 47 per cent of the 19,155 public schools in the state were in fairly good shape, and the government would renovate the structures based on a scale of preference.

“We are working towards addressing this challenge but are incapacitated at the moment financially.

“We have paid the N1 billion counterpart funds required of us to access resources for such projects and are waiting for the release of these funds to commence work.

“We are aware that basic education structure, especially in rural areas, are clamouring for urgent attention and plead for more patience to have access to the resources required for such projects,” he said. (NAN)
