• The building housing the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja, yesterday, caught fire from an unknown source.

The fire, according to an eye-witnesses, was first noticed on the ninth floor of the building a few minutes past 2p.m.

Civil Servants and visitors that were in the building when the fire started were seen scampering for safety with some alleging that implicating documents of the present and past ministers, permanent secretaries and directors might have been destroyed to forestall probing by the in-coming leadership of the president-elect, Gen Muhammad Buhari.

However, the rumours were laid to rest when a staff of the ministry informed reporters that the documents of the ministry are on the second floor and not the affected floors as being speculated and as such, there was no foul play.
