COEASU Strike Latest: Union To Meet July 1st For Strike Decision
The leadership pf the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) has said that it would hold its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on July 1 to take final position on its six-month-old strike.
It will be recalled that the College of Education lecturers embarked on an indefinite strike on December 31st following complaints of poor funding, non-release of the white paper on visitation panel reports and imposition of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System by the government.
A COEASU executive, Mr Taiwo said: “The meeting will focus on reviewing and updating members on the level of discussion with the government toward ending the strike.
“After the meeting, we will take a decisive position on the strike,” he said.
The COEASU chairman however urged the Federal Government to be more committed to meeting the demands of the union toward ending the strike as several meetings held with the stakeholders in the education sector didn’t yield any results.
