• Bauchi State Govt Allocates 18 Percent of 2016 Budget to Education Sector.

    The Bauchi State Government is paying optimum attention to Education as 18 per cent of the 2016 Budget is channeled to the sector.

    According to the Permanent Secretary, Bauchi State Planning Commission, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, who gave a breakdown of the budget, N26.73 billion out of N135.30 billion budgeted for the state is for the education sector.

    He said that the allocations were made taking into consideration the priority of the present administration, especially where it had direct multiplier effect in every sector of the economy.

    Ibrahim stated further that health, roads and infrastructure development were accorded second and third priority with N19.68 billion and N14.49 billion respectively while agriculture and water were also accorded priority with the sum of N9.54 billion and N7.31 billion respectively.

    The permanent secretary said that the budget would also address the issue of erosion, flood control, purchase of waste disposal equipment and tree planting campaign.

    Ibrahim said provisions were also made for construction of public toilets to boost the sanitary conditions of the state. (NAN)
