• 40-Year-Old ABU Zaria Student Emerge NANS President

    The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has elected Tijani Usman, a student of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, as president during the 2014 National Convention in Asaba.

    Tijani, who was alleged to be about 40 years old got 163 votes to beat his closest rival, Jubril Ahmadu, also from ABU who scored 56 votes.

    Usman replaces the controversial outgoing President, Yinka Gbadebo, who before the convention endorsed President Jonathan for second term in office come 2015.

    Gbadebo described the Transformation Agenda of President Jonathan as unprecedented in the history of Nigeria as it has contributed greatly to the development of the country.

    The NANS election which was marred by violence and disruption saw Roys Ochais, emerge as senate president.
