The Rector of the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), Bauchi, Dr Bala Azare, has been suspended from office following the student’s protest on Tuesday.
It will be recalled that the students staged a protest to demand the removal of the Rector for alleged corruption and malpractices.
The suspension was made known by the state Head of Civil Service, Mr Abdon Dala Gin, while addressing journalists at the Government House shortly after the state deputy governor, Nuhu Gidado, met with members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) of the institution.
According to the Head of Civil Service, the suspension did not mean that Dr Azare had been disengaged but was only suspended to pave way for further investigation into the allegations levelled against him by the academic union of the polytechnic.
