• A total of 543 students of the Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State last Friday took the matriculation oath during the institution’s seventh matriculation ceremony just as the authorities of the institution announced scholarship awards for best students of the university.

    The school noted that 305 out of the 543 students were admitted through the Unified Matriculation Tertiary Examination (UMTE) and Direct Entry while the rest entered through the bridge programme established for the professionals.

    Speaking at the ceremony, the Pro- Chancellor of the university, Dr. Bode Ayorinde, urged the students to adhere strictly to the oath they had sworn to, saying the school would not tolerate indiscipline.

    He said the institution would continue to maintain discipline that had been entrenched on campus since establishment, adding that the management would not hesitate to sanction any of them found wanting. The pro-chancellor however, expressed the readiness of the institution to continue to formulate and implement policies and programmes that would aid the development of education and the vision behind the establishment of the university.

    Also speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Adebayo Adebiyi said the vision of the university was to produce graduates who would be useful to themselves and the society.

    He noted that the university had been enjoying steady growth and development by all standards since inception. He promised that the university would provide all necessary facilities that would make the institution both learning and teaching friendly. The VC further disclosed that the university had proposed to reward students with excellence performances in academic and sporting activities beginning from next academic session.
