• AAUA Concludes 9th Edition of VC’s Games.

    The Faculty of Education of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) has emerged the overall winner of the University’s 9th edition of the Vice Chancellor’s Games.

    The Faculty lifted the cup after toping the medals table with eight gold, 12 silver and five bronze medals.

    This year’s edition saw the students taking part in various in-door track and field events, including Football, Chess, Basketball, Athletics, Handball, Ayo Opon, and Badminton.

    The Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, FSMS, was second in the log with five gold, five silver and two bronze medals, while the Faculty of Arts clinched the third position with four gold, two silver and seven bronze medals.

    The Faculty of Law settled for the fourth position with two gold, one silver and one bronze medals and Faculty of Science was placed fifth with one gold, one silver and one bronze medals.

    The newly-established Faculty of Agriculture managed to get one gold and one bronze medals to occupy the bottom of the log.

    Meanwhile, the final of the football event, which took place on Wednesday, saw the Faculty of Science locking horns with the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.

    Two brilliant goals, one in each half of the encounter from Akindasa Henry (400-Level Earth Sciences) separated the two sides, giving the Faculty its lone gold of the tournament.

    Earlier in his remark, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun had expressed delight over the tournament and appreciated the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Chairman of AAUA Sports Council, Prof. Francis Oyebade, and the University’s Sport Unit for putting together an array of sporting activities.

    Prof. Oyebade, in his Address of Welcome, thanked the VC for giving approval to hold the tournament and for finding time to attend almost all the events of the competition.

    He appreciated the Sports Unit under the leadership of the Chief Sports Coach, Mr. J.B. Babalola for its cooperation.
