Recall that we had earlier today reported an ongoing students protest at the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus (UNEC). Well, it appears the UNN VC has made good his threat of shutting down the institution as a public notice was circulated this afternoon instructing the students to vacate the school campuses within 24 hours in the name of a 2-week mid semester break that has never been heard of the university historically.

To: UNN STUDENTS AND THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

MID SEMESTER BREAK
This is to bring to the notice of all students and the entire University Community, that the University of Nigeria shall proceed on a TWO-WEEK MID SEMESTER BREAK with immediate effect.
Consequently, all academic activities on the campuses are hereby suspended for the period.
Students are by this notice directed to vacate their hostels within the next 24 HOURS, ie not later than 6pm on TUESDAY, JUNE 02, 2015.
