UNN Graduates 132 First Class Students During 47th Convocation.
A total 9,298 graduating students will receive various degree certificates during the 47th Convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) which is scheduled to hold from Friday 1st December, 2017.
In his pre-convocation speech on Monday 27th November, 2017, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, said that 132 of the graduating students bagged First Class degrees.
He said the graduands comprise of 7,830 First Degree, Diploma and Certificate students with 1,468 Postgraduate Degrees and Diploma graduates including 331 Doctor of Philosophy Degrees, 982 Masters Degree and 155 Postgraduate Diplomas.
Prof. Ozumba also announced that three eminent Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in public service will be awarded honorary Doctorate Degrees by the University.
They include, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto; Chairman of Slok Group and former Governor of Abia state, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu and the Chairman of Zenith Bank, Mr Jim Ovia.
He also said that the institution will confer the title of Professor Emeritus on eight renowned Professors who had served the university meritoriously and are still making invaluable contributions to our academics.
The UNN 47th Convocation lecture will be delivered by the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr Godwin Emefiele, on Thursday, 30th November, 2017 at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, Nsukka Campus by 11.00am.
