The senator representing Anambra South senatorial zone, Dr. Andy Uba, has offered scholarships worth N50,000 to 120 students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
Beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme, according to the stipulated condition, were students whose Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) were four points and above.
According to the Director, Senator Andy Uba Foundation, Dr. Charles Nweke, beneficiaries must maintain the 4-points CGPA to continue enjoying the scholarship till graduation.
He stated that the scholarship was to enable the students pay their school fees and attend to other financial problems
Presenting the awards to Pharmacy students, the dean of the faculty, Dr. Uzochukwu Ikemefuna, lauded the senator for his philanthropic gesture and urged him to sustain the scholarship scheme.
Coordinator of the Foundation, Professor Asigbo said it was not the intention of the senator to use the scholarship scheme to advance his political career, adding that it was for that reason that he decided not to make the disbursement to the beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme during political campaigns.
