Professor E. H. Agba was born on 20th July, 1962, in Mbagen, Buruku Local Government Area, Benue State, and is married with 3 children. He was appointed the 2nd Vice – Chancellor of the University of Mkar on 1st September 2011 and has since assumed duty. As a Professor of Physics, he specializes in Biophysics and Medical Physics. He attended Bristow Secondary School Gboko from 1974- 1979, University of Benin, 1979 – 1984, for his B. Sc. in Applied Physics, 1987- 1990 for M. Sc. and from 1995 – 1999 for the Ph.D. Prof. E. H. Agba had been a former Lecturer ICS, Mkar, College of Education Katsina -Ala, and a pioneer Lecturer in Physics Department, Benue State University, Makurdi, in 1992. He rose through all the ranks and was promoted to the rank of Professor of Physics. He served as Head of Department, 1998 – 2004, 2007- 2009, Coordinator of Remedial Studies, 2004 – 2005, Dean of Science 2008 – 2011, Pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Mkar, December 2005 – December 2006. He has served the National Universities Commission, (NUC) as member of Accreditation Team since 2006. He has also been an External Examiner for B.Sc. and Ph.D. Physics, University of Jos.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (MNIP), Member, International Radiation Physics Society, (MIRPS), Member, Research Board of Advisors, American Biographical Institute, inc., USA.
Prof. E.H. Agba has 23 published articles in Referred Journals, 22 Conference/ Seminar papers. He has obtained over 10 awards from schools and other organizations. Prof. E.H. Agba assumes the administrative mantle of the University of Mkar to provide visionary leadership, believing that “the mandate of the University depends largely on the quality of leadership, staff, students, physical facilities and the programmes offered by the University”. He encapsulates his vision in the following words: “To build a world class Christian University of first choice in Nigeria and Africa that is renowned in the fields of Science and Technology, Entrepreneurship and Innovations”. On his mission, he has this to say: “We shall focus on the critical areas that have direct impact on quality Teaching, Research and Service delivery” taking into cognizance the University of Mkar Strategic Plan, 2010 – 2015.
The Vice-Chancellor is an adventurous person, an avid reader, and loves watching Football and Wrestling.
