• The University School, University of Ilorin, recorded 99% pass in this year’s National Examinations Council (NECO) Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Basic 9 pupils (equivalent to JSS 3), according to the result released last Monday.

    The Head Teacher of the School, Mrs. M.T. Oyinloye, who disclosed this during the 2015 graduation and prize giving day ceremony of the school, also said that 13 of the 14 pupils of the school, who sat for the entrance examination  into the University of Ilorin Secondary School, passed “very well” while one of them, Miss Tawakalitu Mustapha, emerged as the second  overall best candidate.

    Mrs Oyinloye, who also briefed the gathering on the successes recorded by pupils of the school in extra-curricular activities, expressed gratitude to the University management, and the members of staff, for their supports to the school.

    The Head Teacher commended the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), saying, “The PTA under the Chairmanship of Dr. A. O. Oniye is not relenting in its efforts to render assistance in areas of provision of furniture for the pupils, water supply and first aid materials to the school.”

    She also commended the Association for its assistance to the school in the area of staff welfare.
