UNIJOS Gets New Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Sabastian Seddi Maimako has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) as approved by the Governing Council of the university.
Until his appointment, Maimako was the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences in UniJos. He will serve a single term of five years.
In a statement released on Friday by the Principal Assistant Registrar, Information and Publications, Mr Abdullahi Abdullahi, the appointment followed the council’s consideration of the recommendations of its Selection Board at its special meeting held on Friday, April 22, 2016.
The new VC would assume office on June 23, 2016, after the expiration of the tenure of the current VC, Prof. Hayward Mafuyai, on June 22.
Maimako, who is a Professor of Accounting and Finance, joined the University of Jos in 1989 as a Graduate Assistant.
He obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 1992 and bagged a PhD Degree in Management in 2006.
The new VC was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2010 and appointed Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences on April 1, 2015.
