• A total of ninety three Computer Science graduates of the University of Jos have been inducted by the Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPRCN) during a combined induction ceremony for the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 academic sessions into the Graduate Level membership of the council.

    While administering the induction oath on the inductees at the Law Auditorium of the university, the Registrar of the Council, Mr. Sikiru Akanji Shehu, said the ceremony was in recognition of the increasing global prominence of Information Technology and its role as a driver of social-economic development.

    According to him, the Federal Government identified the need to put appropriate regulatory mechanism in place to ensure the growth and development of the country’s IT sector in an atmosphere devoid of quackery, arbitrary practice and lack of standards.

    The registrar, who was represented by Head, North- Central Zone of CPN, Abdullahi Yusuf said the Computer Professional Examination (CPE) is designed with the aim of developing and nurturing the potentials of Nigerian youths and adults that are interested in making a career in computing and Information Technology.

    The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Hayward Mafuyai, while congratulating the inductees said the university would continue to provide a conducive atmosphere for academic activities to thrive.
