In his speech during the pre-convocation media briefing, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, disclosed that sixty-one of the graduating students bagged First class degrees.
The VC said that a total of 12,808 students would be awarded various diplomas and degrees during the ceremony, with 154 graduates graduating with doctorate degrees, 2,531 master’s degrees and 233 in the post-graduate diploma category.
Also 95 undergraduate diplomas and 514 unclassified degrees would be awarded during the event.
Prof. Orumwense said the ceremony would also feature the conferment of honorary degrees of Doctor of Science as well as Professor Emeritus to deserving Nigerians.
The vice-chancellor added that 15 newly-completed projects will be inaugurated while the institution’s Hall of Fame will be dedicated to Godwin Oshodin for his exceptional leadership qualities and creativity.
