About 100 indigent students received scholarships to study first degree programmes at the Bells
The Deputy Director, Ministry of Education, Mr Musa Gambo, who made this disclosure, stated that the scholarship would cost the state government N120 million annually.
According to him, the scholarship becomes imperative because all the institutions in the state cannot absorb all the students seeking admission.
Gambo added that the government had undergraduate students in other three private universities: Crescent University, Ogun; American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, and Igbinedion University, Benin City, Edo.
Gambo said that the state government was working toward enlightening its students on the need for them to shun the lure to join members of the insurgency.
He also called on them to join hands with the government in tackling insurgency in the area.
