The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen. Johnson Olawunmi has assured Nigerians that no corps member will be lost to post-election violence, as was the case in some parts of northern Nigeria after the 2011 polls.
The organisation said it had commenced sensitisation programme for community leaders in some areas, that were prone to violence, to educate them that corps members were neither politicians nor members of staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
About 400 corps members are benefiting from the training which was jointly organised by the NYSC and the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals, headed by Dr. Precious Gbeneol.
Olawunmi speaking at the 9th edition of the War Against Poverty said: “I am sure, Insha Allah, that at the end of the 2015 elections, we will not lose a single corps member.”
