According to the approval letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the Northwest University and signed by the Director, Academic Standards of NUC, Dr. G.B. Kumo, the Executive Secretary of NUC has on Thursday 11th September, 2014 considered and approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the programmes to be run in the Campus of the University, effective from the 2014/2015 academic session/JAMB admission exercise.
A copy of the letter which was made available to Corporate Communications further revealed that the approval does not cover the part-time mode of delivery of the programmes. All programmes shall bear only the approved titles and nomenclatures and any change will require re-approval of the Commission. The letter enjoined the University to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the programme. It would be recalled that resource evaluation visit was carried out by panels of experts to some proposed academic programmes of the University with a view to assessing the human and material resources available for their establishment.
The newly approved B.L.S Library and Information Sciences course is under the new Department of Library and Information Sciences in the Faculty of Education. While B.Sc. Physiology and B.Sc. Anatomy courses are under new departments, namely; Department of Physiology and Department of Anatomy in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. B.Sc Information and Communications Technology is under the Department of Computer Sciences in the Faculty of Sciences.
